What Wise Is
Wise is a UK-based financial-technology company (formerly known as TransferWise) that offers multi-currency accounts and international money transfers.
In the UK you can open a Wise account online, get local bank details for multiple currencies (including GBP, EUR, USD) and hold/send money in 40+ currencies.
It’s important: Wise is not a traditional full-bank (as of now) in the UK — it is regulated under the Electronic Money Regulations rather than a full banking licence.

- If you rely on cash deposits? Wise does not support cash/cheque deposits in the UK. Only online transfers.
